Who we are
Hi, I’m Grace — founder of Kalanchoe Skateboards. I started this brand to create the kind of skateboarding space I wish I’d had when I was first starting out.
As a Black woman who got into skating in college, I often felt like an outsider. Skate shops felt uninviting, and a lot of the graphics and gear didn’t reflect who I was — someone quiet, thoughtful, and still figuring it out. I wanted something that felt more personal, more true to me. So I made it.
Kalanchoe Skateboards is all about authenticity, community, and respect. Our boards and apparel are designed to uplift women and nonbinary skaters, and to help build a more welcoming, inclusive skate community.
The name Kalanchoe comes from a resilient flower that blooms in unlikely places. To me, it represents the beauty of starting something new, even if you don’t look or feel like the “typical” skater. My hope is that our boards can spark a love of skating in people who never thought it was for them — because it is.
Skateboarding is for everyone. Especially you!
